Risk & Market Data Disclaimer

Version 1.1 · Last updated: July 31, 2026

The Gold Congress is an educational and journalistic project. We publish market data, articles, lessons and conference sessions about gold and the wider precious metals complex. We do not manage money, we do not broker transactions, we do not sell bullion, and we do not give personal recommendations. This page sets out, in full, the limits of everything we publish. It applies alongside our Terms of Service.

1. Scope of this disclaimer

This disclaimer covers every part of TheGoldCongress.com and every format we publish in: the live price pages, the Magazine, the Academy, the Newsletter, the Glossary, the Schedule, session recordings, and anything said live during the congress on October 10, 2026. It applies whether you are a free registrant, a paying delegate, or an anonymous reader.

By using this site you accept that all content is general information addressed to a broad international audience, and that none of it has been prepared with knowledge of your financial position, tax residency, time horizon, liquidity needs or risk tolerance.

2. No investment, tax or legal advice

We are not a licensed investment firm, investment adviser, bank, broker-dealer, tax adviser or law firm, and we do not act as one. Nothing published here constitutes investment advice, investment research within the meaning of applicable financial markets regulation, a personal recommendation, portfolio allocation guidance, or an inducement to buy, sell or hold any asset.

Where a lesson, article or speaker describes an allocation, strategy or product, it is described for educational understanding — not proposed to you. Before acting on any theme discussed here, obtain individual advice from a professional who is authorised in your jurisdiction and who knows your circumstances.

3. Market data: source, delay and accuracy

Spot quotes for gold, silver, platinum and palladium shown on our price pages and in the live price widget are retrieved from the public gold-api.com feed in US dollars per troy ounce. They are refreshed roughly every 60 seconds while a page is open and are cached briefly in transit.

These quotes are delayed and indicative. They are not the LBMA Gold or Silver Price auction fixings, not a COMEX settlement, and not a firm quote from any dealer. Feeds fail, stale values persist, and conversions introduce rounding. Where a metal cannot be retrieved, we show the page as partial rather than substituting an estimate.

Derived figures — per-gram, per-kilo, tola, taël, Good Delivery bar values and the gold/silver ratio — are simple arithmetic conversions of the retrieved ounce price using 31.1034768 grams per troy ounce. They inherit every inaccuracy of the underlying feed. We give no warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness or fitness for any purpose, and we accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of displayed data.

4. Spot is not the price you pay

Spot is the wholesale price for unallocated metal traded between market professionals in size. Retail buyers pay a premium over spot and retail sellers usually receive less than spot. Typical premiums run in the low single-digit percentages for kilobars and larger bars, and materially higher for small bars and coins — widening sharply when retail demand spikes or refining capacity is tight.

On top of the premium you may pay dealer spreads, assay or repackaging fees, insured shipping, storage and insurance, VAT or sales tax where the metal is not investment-grade exempt, and capital gains tax on disposal. Any figure on our price pages that appears to represent "the value" of a holding ignores all of these costs.

5. Risks of precious metals exposure

Precious metals are volatile assets. Drawdowns of tens of percent have occurred and can occur again, and metal can trade sideways in real terms for a decade or more. Metals produce no income: there is no coupon, dividend or yield, so the entire return depends on price change, while storage and insurance impose a running cost.

Further risks include currency risk (spot is quoted in US dollars, so a non-dollar investor's return depends on the exchange rate as much as the metal), liquidity risk in stressed markets, counterparty and custody risk for unallocated or pooled accounts, delivery and authenticity risk in the physical market, regulatory and tax change, and leverage risk where exposure is taken through futures, CFDs or margin — instruments that can lose more than the amount invested.

Past performance, historical ratios and long-run charts are not indicators of future results. You may get back less than you paid, and in some instruments you may lose your entire investment.

6. Forward-looking statements

Content on this site may contain forward-looking statements — scenarios, outlooks, expectations about central bank behaviour, monetary policy, supply and demand or geopolitical developments. These are opinions held at the time of writing or speaking, based on assumptions that may prove wrong. They are inherently uncertain, subject to change without notice, and we undertake no obligation to update them.

7. Magazine, Academy and Newsletter content

Magazine articles, Academy lessons and Newsletter editions are produced for education and journalism. Where we cite data — for example World Gold Council demand statistics or published central bank reserve figures — we identify the source and the period; figures may have been revised since publication. Where a passage is our interpretation, it is opinion, not fact.

Academy certificates of completion record that you worked through our material and answered its comprehension checks. They are not an accredited qualification, they confer no professional licence or regulatory status, and they must not be presented as authorisation to advise others.

We correct errors transparently. If you believe something we published is inaccurate, write to editorial@thegoldcongress.com with the URL and the passage in question.

8. Speaker, sponsor and third-party opinions

Views expressed by speakers, guest contributors, panellists and interviewees are their own. They are not our views, we do not endorse them, and their inclusion in the programme is not a recommendation of any firm, product or strategy they may be associated with. Speakers may hold positions in the assets they discuss.

Sponsors and partners pay for visibility, not for editorial influence. Sponsored placement is labelled as such and does not constitute an endorsement of the sponsor, their products, or the suitability of those products for you. We take no commission on transactions between you and any third party, and we do not receive referral fees for sending you to a dealer.

External links are provided for convenience; we do not control and are not responsible for third-party content. We check links for unlawful content at the time of linking and remove them promptly once a concrete infringement becomes known to us.

9. No offer where prohibited

This site is accessible worldwide, but nothing on it is directed at any person in any jurisdiction where publication or availability would breach local law or require us to be registered or licensed there. It is your responsibility to be aware of and observe the rules that apply to you.

Nothing here constitutes an offer or solicitation to buy or sell securities, commodities, derivatives or collective investment schemes in any jurisdiction, including to any US person where such an offer would require registration.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss — including trading losses, lost profit and indirect or consequential loss — arising from reliance on content or market data published here. We do not exclude liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. The limitations in section 14 of our Terms of Service apply in full.
